The New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones exited the field at Hard Rock Stadium after the Patriots' 20-7 loss agains the Miami Dolphins, and headed into an in-stadium X-ray room along with Patriots medical personnel. In the hour following New England defeat, the team announced that quarterback Mac Jones would be unavailable to meet the media, noting a back injury Jones suffered during the game.
The second-year quarterback took several hard hits from Miami's defense in Sunday's game, including a high shot from Dolphins safety Jevon Holland early in the fourth quarter that resulted in a roughing the passer penalty. Jones' initial X-rays were negative, but he will undergo further evaluation in New England. It's unclear whether his injury could affect his availability for Week 2.
During Sunday's game, Jones went 21 of 30 for 213 yards, one touchdown and one interception Sunday. The Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa threw for 270 yards and routinely connecting with new No. 1 receiver Tyreek Hill.
The Patriots (0-1) will face the Steelers (1-0) next Sunday.
