On Tuesday, the Minnesota Wild traded goaltender Cam Talbot to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for goalie Filip Gustavsson. Minnesota will not retaining any of Talbot's salary.
The 35-year-old Talbot posted a 32-12-4 record with a 2.77 goals against average and .911 save percentage last season. The trade to the Senators will make this Talbot's sixth team in his NHL career.
24-year-old Gustavsson joins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in Minnesota. He recorded a 5-12-1 record with a 3.55 GAA and .892 SV% last season. This is the second trade involving a goaltender in consecutive days for the Senators. On Monday, Ottawa traded goalie Matt Murray to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Wild (53-22-7) finished second in the Central Division before losing in the playoffs to the St. Louis Blues. The Senators (33-42-7) missed the playoffs, placinf seventh in the Atlantic Division.
