20th Century Studios shared a teaser trailer for the sci-fi movie Avatar: The Way of Water, the sequel to the 2009 film Avatar. The movie, featuring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña, takes place on the fictional planet Pandora and centers on the conflict between humans and the nature-loving species Na'vi. Avatar: The Way of Water is written, directed and produced by James Cameron, and also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis.
Worthington and Saldaña return as Jake Sully and Neytiri, and the teaser trailer introduces the couple's children while the family faces a new threat on Pandora. An official film synopsis reads: "Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, 'Avatar: The Way of Water' begins to tell the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure."
A remastered version of the original Avatar will be shown in theaters on Sept. 23. Avatar: The Way of Water opens in theaters Dec. 16. Check out the teaser trailer - here.
