T.I. has released what he says will be the 'final' solo album of his career, bringing an end to more than two decades as one of hip-hop's defining Southern voices.
Kill the King, his 12th studio album and first full-length release in six years, features an 18-song lineup with contributions from Usher, Anderson .Paak, Dr. Dre, T-Pain, Jeezy, 2 Chainz, Summer Walker, The-Dream, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Young Dro and members of his own family. The album serves as a retrospective on a career that began with I'm Serious in 2001 and helped establish T.I. as one of the most influential figures in modern trap music, closing a chapter he has long said would end on his own terms.
The album's title reflects a concept T.I. has discussed for years, tracing back to plans he first revealed in 2017. Speaking previously about the project, he explained, "Ever since my first album, I've put the title of 'King of the South' on me, and to make yourself the king is to make you a target. And in chess, the object is to kill the king." The project also reunites him with Pharrell Williams, who produced the lead single "Let 'Em Know," while Dr. Dre contributes to "Where I'm From," featuring Anderson .Paak.
Although T.I. has repeatedly described Kill the King as his last solo album, he recently suggested he remains open to contributing to soundtrack projects or collaborative releases. He said his focus is shifting toward film, television, comedy, real estate and other business ventures after achieving the career he once envisioned. "I done did this, man, I danced this dance quite some time," he said in a recent interview.
The release of Kill the King also coincides with the launch of T.I.'s upcoming 'King Succession Tour,' which will feature his sons Domani and King Harris. For ticket info, head HERE.
