Doechii has unveiled the official music video for her latest single, “Anxiety.”
The video, directed by James Mackel, follows Doechii through a lavish, high-end residence, where an attentive staff tends to her every need. Despite the glamorous backdrop, unsettling moments unfold — from a blazing kitchen fire and an intimidating Doberman to a crashing chandelier and sudden intruders shattering windows. She briefly escapes to the street seeking solace, only to be surrounded by a flash mob of over 100 dancers.
The video also pays tribute to Gotye -- whose 2011 smash hit song “Somebody That I Used to Know” is heavily sampled on the track. Doechii is shown at one point looking over to see a man and woman done up in geometric body paint to match a wall in the house (a direct homage to the “Somebody That I Used to Know” music video).
Since its debut last month, Anxiety has racked up over 272 million global streams, including 85 million in the U.S., and generated more than 23 billion views across social media platforms. The song also marks Doechii’s first single to break into the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10, currently climbing the charts across multiple formats — it’s in the top 20 at both Top 40 and urban radio, and top 10 at rhythm radio.
