The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Monday that they have released starting right guard Alex Cappa, clearing about $8 million in salary cap space in 2025.

Cappa, a third-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018, has played in 102 career games (96 starts) for the two teams. The 30-year-old signed a four-year, $35 million deal in March 2022; he started all 50 games he played in for the Bengals across three seasons, missing just one start in 2022.

Per Pro Football Focus, the seven-year veteran received the 41st-best offensive rating among guard who played at least 80% of 1,178 snaps last season. Bengals guard Cody Ford also is set to hit free agency this off-season, leaving Cordell Volson as the most experienced guard on the Bengals' roster. With Cappa and Ford hitting free agency, the Bengals most likely will be in the market to sign a guard or prioritize the position in the 2025 NFL Draft.
