The second season of Squid Game hit Netflix last December, and the streaming service revealed that the mega-hit show’s third (and final) season will be released this year. The announcement was made on Netflix’s Tudum blog, and also includes a letter to fans from the show’s director, writer, and executive producer, Hwang Dong-hyuk.
Netflix has yet to reveal any official release or plot details regarding the third season; however, Squid Game director Dong-hyuk assured fans 'that they won't have to wait too long for season 3.' Said Dong-hyuk: "I don’t think it’s May, but it will come out this year. I’m working on it [and] it’s coming soon. Sooner than you’d expect”.
Netflix also shared a brief teaser which features Chul-su, the ‘boyfriend’ of Red Light, Green Light doll Young-hee; check it out HERE.
The first season of Squid Game saw the down-on-his-luck Seong Gi-Hun (played by Lee Jung-Jae) win the deadly “Squid Games,” a life-or-death series of competitions whose winner walks away with a ₩45.6 billion KRW -- just under $31 million USD — and decide to use his newfound wealth in an attempt to dismantle the games. The second season’s premise sees Gi-Hun return to the mysterious island on which the games are held and attempt to convince a new batch of players to vote for the games to stop, splitting the prize pot.
