Paul McCartney announced the release of live studio sessions from 1974 newly-mixed and available for the first time as the album, One Hand Clapping - longly considered one of the most bootlegged live albums in musical history.
'One Hand Clapping' came to be while McCartney and Wings were filming a video documentary at Abbey Road Studios in August 1974 (around the time that their classic album 'Band on the Run' was topping the charts). However, despite demand for newly recorded material recorded during that time, 'One Hand Clapping' was never officially released. Over the years, however, various parts of One Hand Clapping have been bootlegged - with some of the material appearing on official McCartney releases.
The forthcoming release of One Hand Clapping will feature the original artwork designed for the project, including a TV sales brochure for the unreleased film at the time. It marks the first time the audio for the film, along with several additional songs recorded off-camera, will be officially issued.
One Hand Clapping will be released June 14 in multiple formats, including an online exclusive 2 LP + 7-inch package featuring an exclusive vinyl single of previously unreleased solo performances recorded on the final day of the sessions in the backyard of Abbey Road studios. The set will also be available on 2 CDs and digitally, including a Dolby Atmos mix by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.
