Netflix shared details about their new "romance-fueled family drama and contemporary Western saga" Ransom Canyon, starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly. Netflix posted on X: "Ransom Canyon, starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, is a new romance-fueled family drama and contemporary western saga that charts the intersecting lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country. Coming soon to Netflix."
A press release said that Ransom Canyon "charts the intersecting lives of three ranching families, all set against the rugged expanse of Texas Hill Country." Duhamel will play Staten Kirkland, the owner and sole occupant of the Double K Ranch who is described as a "steadfast and stoic" character who "leads the charge to resist outside forces threatening his way of life and the land that he loves." Kelly will portray Quinn, a character that has "often found herself in the shadow of others, who after a stint in New York pursuing her career as a concert pianist has returned to Ransom Canyon to carve out a new path for herself."
There are 10 books in the Ransom Canyon book series, with Season 1 of Netflix’s TV adaptation loosely based on the first one from 2015, Ransom Canyon. Netflix has ordered 10 episodes for Ransom Canyon; the first two will be directed by Amanda Marsalis (Ozark, Umbrella Academy).
