Lil Yachty and J. Cole have come together in the video for their new track “The Secret Recipe,” their first collaborative song.
The comes as a surprise, as the two rappers have not gotten along in the past - beginning in 2011 and 2012, when Lil Yachty tweeted a number of anti-Cole remarks when he was 14 years old. Years later, Lil Yachty discussed his comments in an interview, “I honestly can’t explain it. I don’t know why. His music is so lyrical—let me clear this up ... I f*** with J. Cole as a person. I don’t listen to J. Cole. But I have nothing against J. Cole. I was young, and I was just talking ****, trolling. I never thought I was gonna be a rapper. I have no issues with J. Cole or his music, and if we ever bump into each other, I don’t wanna any problems.”
“The Secret Recipe” follows Lil Yachty’s latest studio album, Let’s Start Here., and J. Cole’s 2021 album, The Off-Season.
