The Pittsburgh Pirates' Andrew McCutchen reached a major milestone on Sunday, earning his 2,000th career hit against the New York Mets at PNC Park. McCutchen reached his 2,000th hit in the bottom of the first inning off Mets' pitcher Carlos Carrasco.

McCutchen returned to Pittsburgh this offseason after signing a one-year, $5 million deal, after leaving the Pirates back in 2017 to join the San Francisco Giants in 2018. He also played for the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, and in 2022, joined the Milwaukee Brewers.

Ironically, McCutchen's 2,000th MLB hit occurred against the same team he recorded his first Major League hit - the New York Mets. On June 4, 2009, McCutchen faced Mike Pelfry in the bottom of the first inning for his first at-bat of his career at PNC Park, and the rest is history. The Pirates would go on to beat the Mets 11-6 that day.
