Rascal Flatts’ lead guitarist Joe Don Rooney was recently charged with driving under the influence following an incident in Williamson County, TN, early on September 9, just outside of Rooney's home in Nashville. Rooney was arrested by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at roughly 4 AM local time after crashing his vehicle into a tree near Fieldstone Park, TN. Rooney was booked into the Williamson County Jail around 7:20 AM local time and released on a $2,500 bond at about 10:17 AM local time.
Rascal Flatts' did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The group, founded in 1999 by Rooney, Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus, announced last year that they were retiring; however, the COVID pandemic forced the group to cancel their planned farewell tour last year.
