Jimmy Farrar, who sang with Molly Hatchet from 1980-82, has died at age 68. The news was confirmed by the band's bassist Tim Lindsey via Facebook, and a page specifically for fans of Molly Hatchet says Farrar passed away at on Monday of congestive heart failure, and kidney and liver failure. Farrar suffered three heart attacks in 2017, and had bypass surgery performed in Atlanta. Born in La Grange, Ga., Farrar met Rocky Manbrettie, a former roadie for Molly Hatchet who made sure Farrar's demo tape got into the right hands, and Farrar was hired as the band's lead singer, having just parted ways with former-singer Danny Joe Brown. Farrar performed with Molly Hatchet on their 1980's platinum-selling Beatin' the Odds, and followed up with the album Take No Prisoners a year later before splitting with the band, citing internal issues. After leaving Hatchet, Farrar sang with Predator, Section 8 and the Southern Rock All-Stars, later forming Gator Country which was comprised of former members of Molly Hatchet.
