Netflix has shared a teaser trailer for the post-apocalyptic thriller Bird Box Barcelona, which expands on the 2018 film Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock as a mother who must shield her children from an evil force while also fighting for her own survival. The Barcelona-set thriller is the first of what is expected to be a series of movies to expand the Bird Box universe.
Bird Box Barcelona stars Mario Casas and Georgina Campbel, and is described as "an expansion" of the original movie. A film synopsis reads: "After a mysterious force decimates the world's population, Sebastian (Casas) must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows." The cast also includes Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, Patrick Criado, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner and Leonardo Sbaraglia.
