Serena Williams says she’s taking some time off amid the coronavirus outbreak. The tennis star announced her hiatus on Instagram, writing: “Spending the next 6 weeks in solitude. Being a wife. Being a mom. Cooking. Cleaning. Spring cleaning. Face mask. Makeup tutorials. I’ll let you know how it goes…stay safe everyone. This is serious.”
Williams is married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian and mother to their 2-year-old daughter Olympia.
The Women’s Tennis Association announced the cancelation of the Miami Open and the Volco Car Open in Charleston, S.C., amid the pandemic, in addition to two international tournaments. The Association of Tennis Professionals announced that they will be suspending all play for six weeks.
